I'm new to this community, had a few posts here and there (2). Saw some news that I didnt saw on this forum yet so I thought lets post it. Its concerning battlefield, so I posted it in here.

Battlefield Heroes first Play 4 Free title from EA was announced. It wil be a cartoony style game. Here is whats posted on www.battlefield2142.com

Today we announce Battlefield Heroes™, an all-new Play 4 Free cartoon-style shooter that will bring classic Battlefield gameplay to an all new audience and setting. It’s fun cartoon-style graphics and gameplay caters to players of all skill levels. It is easy to pick up and play but with robust character customization and a deep online meta-game, gamers can spend hours building up their characters and conquering the world.

“There’s something here for all types of players -- be it our core Battlefield fans or casual gamers. With the new online model, we will continually add new content to keep the game fresh and keep players engaged, while integrating player feedback in real time. As a game developer, it is such a cool new way to make games.” says Ben Cousins, Senior Producer for Battlefield Heroes.

Battlefield Heroes is being developed by DICE in Stockholm and will be EA’s first title that is offered completely for free. It will be released for the PC as a free download at www.battlefield-heroes.com in summer 2008.

I think it will be fun. Hoping it wont be bad quality, because its free.

This is what really signals the end of BF2 series... Cartoonish charachters.. hehe.. looking forward to seeing what BF3 turns out to be.

When you are making a game, the system specs can move around quite a bit. Especially for the lowest spec. So this is what we are aiming for, but we may need to change them a little later

The bad side of the BETA:

US, April 28, 2008 - On May 6 EA will invite players to the Battlefield Heroes beta. Unfortunately, EA hasn't revealed how you can apply for a beta key. Our sister site Planet Battlefield reports that the beta will allow you to create up to four characters and is approximately 250MB in size.

I like how they put so many additions in like hats and cigars.

These first two shots above show you your hud. The first four slots are weapons and the others look to be ability slots. A progress bar is under slot seven (in picture 1) indicating its recharge status. When in a vehicle you can switch spots by pressing the F keys. In picture two on the far right a small indictor shows what spot you are currently in. The jeep shown holds a total of three teammates.

Very exciting news here at the Heroes website, let me enumerate!

1. There’s a brand new customization and game play trailer up. Go check it out!
2. We’ve (finally) added some game screenshots to our screenshots section. Additionally, the screenshots have better navigation elements on page.
3. Also, we’ve added an F.A.Q. section on the site to answer questions that keep coming up like “When is the game out?” or “Do you support Macs?”

Hello Heroes!

As you may have noticed, you killed our website. We are not angry. We’re very pleased you want to be in the Beta.

The beta for Heroes will be divided into several stages, the first of which is all about testing out this new way of getting games to you all; by downloading and installing them from a website. We’ll also be trying out some other dull stuff to do with servers, so we are expecting the systems to be down as much as they are up.

To help us track down all the technical issues, we have asked a third party to find us some specialist Beta testers. We are doing all this because we want to be sure that when we launch Heroes, everything will work smoothly.

So hang in there! We will announce here when it’s time to sign up for the public stage of the Beta.
